While her first appearance is after Sailor Moon defeats the Dark Kingdom, Chibiusa's story doesn't technically start there. She was born to Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion in Crystal Tokyo of the future. For approximately nine hundred years, things were fine and good. There was peace in Crystal Tokyo and Chibiusa remained a young child who couldn't measure up to the legacy that was her mother. She was eventually gifted her own cat advisor named Diana who was the daughter of Artemis and Luna. Other young children started to harass and bully her for not being able to pull off the same skills her mother had as Sailor Moon. It was this point when Chibiusa became friends with Sailor Pluto despite the fact that no one was supposed to visit the senshi. The older woman was one of Chibiusa's closest and dearest friends, apart from Diana. After one particular day of bullying, Chibiusa stole her mother's Silver Crystal but it was a huge mistake. Dark crystals embedded themselves into the planet and the city was under attack by the group known as the Black Moon. Without her Silver Crystal, Neo-Queen Serenity could not fight off the enemy and while searching for Chibiusa during the attack was put into crystal stasis. Almost all of the senshi fell and even King Endymion was unable to do anything to prevent the enemy from overrunning the city. Scared and frightened, Chibiusa did the only thing she could. She stole a Time-Space key from Sailor Pluto and traveled back to the past with her mother's crystal. She went to seek the help of the one person who could possibly help her - Sailor Moon. Not that Chibiusa made a good first impression on Usagi having landed on the teen's head, interrupting a kiss with Mamoru and then proceeding to demand the Silver Crystal at gunpoint. The gun was just a toy and once her ruse was discovered, she ran away only to be found by the couple. She decided her best course of action was to live with Usagi until she could get her hands on the second crystal so Chibiusa hypnotized the Tsukino family into believing she was a relative. The members of the Black Moon would not let Chibiusa escape so easily so they sent minions to the past in order to retrieve her and the Silver Crystal she had. Usagi continued to mistrust the girl and grew jealous of the close relationship Chibiusa had with Mamoru but nothing could get her to talk about who she was or why she was really here. Instead the senshi had to go into the fight against the Black Moon Clan somewhat blind and they weren't much of a match for them. Chibiusa managed to sneak out from under Luna's watch to follow Usagi to the festival at Rei's school. There she stands by and watched as Rei was abducted by the Black Moon and still refused to say anything to the group. Afterwards the group tried to question her but it only resulted in pushing Chibiusa further away and she ran from them all. Later Mamoru and Luna find her, taking her back to Mamoru's place to sleep even as Usagi got upset over the fact. She has a bad dream about the events that happened back in Crystal Tokyo and Mamoru used a Tuxedo Mask doll to help calm her down. It is this point where Chibiusa opened up a little bit, telling him that her mother called her Small Lady and the key around her neck was important in getting back home - though not her house key. Before going back to sleep, Chibiusa asked Mamoru if Sailor Moon was really strong and she's comforted when he told her that Sailor Moon was invincible. Ami and then Makoto both fall to the minions of the Black Moon, while the mistrust between Usagi and Chibiusa continued to grow. It got to the point where Chibiusa even stole the Silver Crystal from Usagi which nearly resulted in Minako ending up in the hands of the Black Moon as well had she not given the crystal back. That was when answers were demanded and she pleaded with Sailor Moon to help her. Chibiusa then took the remaining individuals to the 30th Century where they were introduced to Sailor Pluto - the Guardian of Time. The group then arrived in the remains of Crystal Tokyo, a dark crystal embedded in the earth. Eventually they make their way to the palace where they meet King Endymion, Mamoru's future self and learn of Usagi's role as Neo-Queen Serenity who has been engulfed in the Silver Crystal for protection. He also said that Chibiusa was their daughter, who was actually over nine hundred years old. King Endymion explained about how Black Moon's invasion began, their origin. Due to the fact that Usagi was unable to use her crystal in the 30th Century, she was taken by Prince Demande. It was during this time that Endymion went to talk to Pluto and Chibiusa followed - however, upon seeing the way her friend reacted around her father made Chibiusa upset and she ran off into a time storm. Having lost the key that would have provided her safety, she became lost. Wiseman took advantage of Chibiusa turmoil emotions, turning her into Black Lady and allowing her to collect Mamoru as her own. Black Lady, alongside Wiseman and a controlled Mamoru, confronted the Senshi as Usagi had managed to find and rescue the others during her own capture. The words of the Senshi were not enough to break the hold Wiseman had over her, however, just as Demande was about to allow the two Silver Crystals to touch and unleash pure destruction, Pluto arrived. She stopped time to prevent one disaster at the cost of her own life as it was one of the forbidden taboos. It was this sacrifice that reached Chibiusa, allowing her to not only break the hold on her but also unlocked her power as a Senshi. This also woke Neo-Queen Serenity from her slumber. After Demande's death, Wiseman revealed himself to be a terrorist known as Death Phantom who was sent to a different planet as punishment - a planet which became his vessel. Usagi and Mamoru are transported to Death Phantom's location and are joined shortly by Chibiusa. Together the three of them are successful in defeating Death Phantom and Crystal Tokyo is restored. Shortly after the Senshi return to the past, Chibiusa and Diana are also sent back in time in order to train alongside Usagi. For a short time, she had the opportunity to simply be a kid while the Senshi worried about new mysterious figures and new enemies. During a trip to an amusement park with her friends, she lost her hat on one of the rides and left the park to go search for it. In her search for the hat, Chibiusa came across a girl named Hotaru Tomoe and the two were attacked by a weird monster. She transformed in front of the other girl and with help from Sailor Moon, they were able to defeat the monster - though Chibiusa was injured in the process. Hotaru showed an unusual ability of her own and healed the wound, before tying her handkerchief around it. This handkerchief gave Chibiusa a reason to visit Hotaru later and the girls became friends, discussing amulets. She also helped Usagi and Mamoru bond during this confusing time by convincing them both to help with a school art project. It also saw the return of Sailor Pluto, though she had been reborn so she could live as a civilian now along with two other Senshi. The three Outer Senshi explain that their duty is to protect from afar and that the new enemy is their responsibility as they let it into the solar system. They also say that they must prevent the awakening of Sailor Saturn who is known as the God of Destruction - who was last seen after the Silver Millennium was devastated by the Dark Kingdom. As it turned out, Saturn was also Chibiusa's new friend Hotaru and they intended to seal the slumbering Senshi after killing the girl. Upon learning that they were going to kill Hotaru, Chibiusa rushed out in an attempt to protect her friend only to stumble into the fact that many parts of Hotaru had been replaced by machines. However, before she could awaken as Saturn, Hotaru is taken over by an evil entity who stole Chibiusa's crystal which put the girl close to death as it also contained her soul. The only reason she managed to stay alive was due to Mamoru linking his life with hers while the other Senshi set off to get the crystal back and stop the enemy. So Chibiusa spent most of the fight on the verge of death until eventually the soul of Hotaru came to return hers. Unfortunately, it cost Hotaru her own life but Chibiusa's wish to fight alongside Sailor Moon allowed her to summon her mother's Holy Grail and Chibi Moon joined the fight. The entity in Hotaru's body, Mistress 9, is used to allow her master Pharaoh 90 a gateway to Earth. With most of the Senshi weakened, Super Sailor Moon decided to jump into the swirling chaos of destructive power to which everyone thought her to be dead. That was the moment Saturn was awoken and she dealt a devastating blow to Pharaoh 90, while Usagi unleashed the power she had amassed to further injure him. Fatally wounded, Pharaoh 90 attempted to flee back through the gateway but Saturn chased after him and instructed Pluto to seal them away on the other side. An order which was followed. Usagi then began to heal the Earth and Hotaru was reincarnated as a baby on the battlefield. As she was also Saturn, the Outer Senshi then swore that they would raise her together and left but not before Neptune gave Chibiusa her magical mirror. After this large battle, Chibiusa intended to return home to see her parents and tell them how her training was going but first she went to see the solar eclipse with Usagi and Mamoru. During the eclipse a mysterious ship was seen in the sky and the Dead Moon Circus was suddenly in town. Both Chibiusa and Usagi were also visited by a white Pegasus who asked for their help in searching for the Golden Crystal. With a potential threat and a circus, Chibiusa's return home was delayed. That night she was once again visited by the Pegasus who took her on a ride over the city, explaining that the dark part of the city was where the circus lay. He then gifted her with a bell that would allow her to summon him and use his powers, that he is counting on her to find the Golden Crystal to save Elysion. When faced with the Dead Moon Circus' Amazoness Quartet, Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon are unable to use the Holy Grail to fight them and Helios urged Chibiusa to summon him. After using the bell to summon him, Helios uses his power to transform a pair of kaleidoscopes into new powerful weapons which they use to defeat the enemy. However, at that point Mamoru collapsed and after returning to their civilian forms, Chibiusa and Usagi discover they've swapped ages due to PallaPalla's attack. They manage to get Mamoru to a hospital where he learned there was a dark spot on his lung, though he told the girls it was nothing to worry about. Chibiusa, now a young woman, volunteered to return to the Tsukino household to give Mamoru and Usagi time alone. Once there she had to hypnotize Usagi's family so they would accept her appearance. It was while she was in this form that she accidentally summoned Helios and he told her that she was the "young maiden" he'd been searching for. Unfortunately, Chibiusa was not convinced - certain that he was searching for Usagi instead and said as much. Before he vanished, Helios instructed her to believe in him and believe when he said she was truly the one. His description of his "young maiden" only caused Chibiusa to truly feel he needed Usagi. Soon enough another enemy came to attack and the two girls must risk transforming despite their wrong ages in order to protect people. They both gain a new transformation brooch, allowing them to become Super Sailors which also managed to break the curse they were under and correcting their appearance. After that the other Senshi soon begin to gain more powers and transformations as well, all having come face-to-face with the enemy. Only Minako remained the same and unable to truly help. It was after aiding Mercury when Helios appeared again. Still believing that Usagi was the one he sought as she wasn't strong enough to help him, Chibiusa told him this. Mercury asked if Princess Serenity was the one he was looking for and he inquired as to whether Sailor Moon was this person. Hearing this and feeling as if her fears of not being the young maiden, Chibiusa ran away. Yet Helios came to her, being able to appear as she still had his bell. Upset and feeling unneeded, Chibiusa told him of her dreams and wishes - all of which he listened to. Helios attempted to comfort her with a nuzzle that turned into a kiss as he went from the form of a Pegasus to that of a young man. He urged her not to cry and informed her that Sailor Moon could only do what she did because she had Chibiusa there to support and strengthen her. Then Helios promised to come see her whenever she wished but that everyone was also worried about her and loved her very much. As Mamoru's condition worsened, he didn't want to let Usagi see so it was up to Chibiusa to look in on him. Eventually, Helios appeared before them and explained that the Dead Moon Circus had attacked Elysion, a realm that protected Earth. This was why Mamoru was sick as he was connected to the Earth and to Helios who was the priest charged with looking after Elysion. The only way to save both the Earth and Elysion, Mamoru and Helios - was to find the Golden Crystal and defeat Queen Nehellenia using both Crystals. While Usagi took charge of looking after Mamoru, Chibiusa spent her time daydreaming about Helios and also wishing that the Outer Senshi were there to help. Especially when Usagi also started to get sick. During Minako's confrontation with the Dead Moon Circus, the Outer Senshi arrive to help as the fight began to escalate. Hotaru, now about Chibiusa's physical age, was once again Saturn and summoned Chibiusa to the battle. Using Neptune's mirror she was able to see that the four of them were fighting too and ran to help. After seeing Usagi and Mamoru turned to children, Chibi Moon and Saturn chased after the Amazoness Quartet in order to face them down. Saturn attempted to reason with them but to no avail and the four were turned into balls while the two girls were trapped in a mirror by Queen Nehellenia. Once again, Chibiusa missed out on a good portion of the events that followed but Helios managed to save Usagi and Mamoru from their curse. Usagi believed that like the Silver Crystal, the Golden Crystal must be inside of Mamoru. Helios gave the last of his strength and power to protect the two. The whole group suffered a terrible nightmare until Mamoru managed to pull them out and they attack Queen Nehellenia's henchman, Zirconia, who is forced to retreat in the Queen's mirror. It's at this point that Chibiusa and Saturn are freed from the mirror and can therefore go to the final battle in Elysion. Chibiusa is frantic upon seeing Helios' fading form but is unable to free him from the cage he's in. They all lend their power to Usagi, even Mamoru who was able to break the seal on the Golden Crystal within him, who then became Eternal Sailor Moon and defeated Nehellenia. The curse upon Elysion and Helios is gone, leaving him in his true form as a young man but is still fading after having used up so much power. Distraught, Chibiusa kisses him and it's the power of her own Pink Moon Crystal that saved Helios. Helios can see that Chibiusa was truly the young maiden he saw. Sailor Moon unlocked the Golden Crystal but it was Chibiusa who saved Helios. After Helios bestows a royal scepter for the Golden Crystal, Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion use their combined power to restore the world. Saturn then asked the Queen to use her powers upon the four balls containing the Amazoness Quartet. Once free of Nehellenia's grip, they explained that they would be the Senshi that stood at Chibi Moon's side and would wait for her in the future. Helios summoned his trusty stead, Pegasus, to return to the surface and told Chibiusa that they would see each other again and he was looking forward to that day. After Mamoru left to go study in the United States, Chibiusa decided to return home to Crystal Tokyo - unaware of the danger that lurked in the 20th Century. It wasn't until she overheard her mother and Pluto talking about a disturbance in the past that she found out anything was wrong. Mostly Chibiusa was focusing on training with her new Senshi, the Amazoness Quartet on the moon. One-by-one, the Senshi in the 30th Century fall comatose as their younger counterparts are wiped out in the past, even King Endymion doesn't escape. Eventually, Chibiusa defied her mother and returned to the past to give Eternal Sailor Moon brief help. Shocked to see ChibiChibi, who some thought to be Chibiusa's daughter from further in the future. Unfortunately, the help Chibiusa can provide is only short-lived as Mamoru is killed, thus erasing their future daughter out of existence. Everything is restored once Sailor Moon is victorious, including Chibiusa who returned home one final time.
